Strengthening U.S.–Malawi Business and Investment Ties
The business community in Malawi is set to welcome a new platform aimed at strengthening commercial and investment ties between Malawi and the United States, with the upcoming launch of the American Chamber of Commerce in Malawi (AmCham Malawi). The Chamber is expected to bring together businesses, investors and other private-sector stakeholders with an interest in expanding opportunities between the two markets. AmCham Malawi will provide a platform for businesses and investors to identify opportunities, build partnerships and access information relevant to doing business in Malawi and the United States. Its activities are expected to include business introductions, investment forums, trade delegations, market-entry support and the sharing of investment opportunities. Beyond facilitating business connections, the Chamber will also provide a collective platform for its members to identify and discuss issues affecting the business environment. Where appropriate, AmCham Malawi will engage government ministries, regulators and other stakeholders on policies and issues that can support investment, competitiveness and private-sector development. The establishment of the Chamber comes at a time when Malawi continues to seek greater private-sector investment, export opportunities and international partnerships to support economic growth.
